Asphalt repair fixes the broken spots in a driveway or parking lot before they spread. Paveway Paving Pros patches potholes and cuts out failed sections on driveways and small lots. We also repair crumbling edges and fill cracks ahead of sealcoating. Our repair customers include homeowners and farm owners, plus churches and shops.
Asphalt patching here means cutting a failed spot back to firm pavement and filling it with hot mix. We are a Lebanon asphalt paving contractor, and our repair work reaches about 60 miles around the city. We look at the damage first, then put a free estimate in writing. Call or text (615) 894-5175.

A Federal Highway Administration manual describes a pothole as a bowl-shaped hole in the pavement surface. Federal pavement guidance links potholes to asphalt cracked by repeated traffic and to poor drainage. So we look at the asphalt around a hole as well as the hole itself.
We cut the failed area out, back to firm asphalt on every side. The agency's pothole manual says sides cut into sound pavement give a patch a solid edge to pack against. Where the base under the hole has gone soft, that comes out too and gets rebuilt. Then hot mix asphalt goes in, compacted with our own rollers.
Edges break down too. Federal pavement surveys track edge cracking where asphalt meets an unpaved shoulder, within about 2 feet of the edge. On a driveway, that is the edge along the grass. We cut a crumbling edge back to solid asphalt and pave it back.
Driveway repair fits asphalt that is sound overall with trouble in spots. A pothole or a crumbling edge is a spot problem. We fix the bad spot and leave the good asphalt in place.
Wide damage is a different job. Federal crack repair guidance says many cracks, or badly broken ones, mark a pavement in an advanced state of decay. Filling them at that point does little to put off the bigger repair.
A driveway worn across the top, over a firm base, may suit an asphalt overlay. A state asphalt association says weak spots and holes get cut out and patched before an overlay goes down. When the base has failed under most of the drive, the fix is a full driveway replacement.
Winters around Lebanon freeze and thaw over and over. NOAA's climate normals for Lebanon count about 91 days a year that drop to freezing or below. On all but about 8 of those days, the high climbs back above freezing.
The federal pothole manual lists moisture, freeze and thaw, traffic and weak support as the usual causes. It says thawing softens the base and takes support out from under the pavement. Warm spells in winter set up the conditions for potholes, the manual adds.
Around Lebanon, NRCS soil data show more Talbott soil than any other kind. It is a clayey soil over limestone, and water moves through it slowly. Federal crack guidance says filling cracks cuts down the water that gets in. That is why crack filling is part of our repair work.

New paving starts with string lines and grading. Then a roller packs the stone base. On older asphalt, we repair the broken spots first.
Hot mix goes down from the top of the drive out to the road, and the rollers press it smooth. Once new asphalt cures, we normally seal it.

Learn MoreFederal soil maps show clay over limestone under much of Lebanon, and water moves slowly through that clay. We grade for drainage and pack a crushed stone base before any hot mix goes down.
Asphalt has pores, and water gets into the pavement through them. We brush or squeegee the sealer into the surface so it fills those pores.
